About the project

The inspo for these villas was a rugged/industrial-style loft that you would find scattered throughout New York. Each villa has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a spacious double garage. The aspect was a huge consideration when designing; each villa has an open-plan living area that's northern facing to ensure they look and feel light and spacious. Inside and out

The villas were designed to seamlessly connect the external and internal elements. Clear finish plywood details the home inside and out – structural plywood is used on the ceilings for the entryway, and in the alfresco features, with strip lighting for extra intrigue. The bathroom vanities also feature plywood, but we've used the end grain, allowing a more rustic and industrial look.

Simplicity was key; the joinery is Absolute Matte Black, with concrete-style Caesarstone benchtops in the kitchen. Burnished concrete is used throughout to tie together the exterior and interior and stick with the NYC feels. The entry features overhead strip lighting between the plywood joints, and vertical slat screening has been used to allow for natural light, movement, and privacy; this feature ties together with the vertical monument cladding and vertical slat-style mailbox to complete the design.
