If you have a passion for building and a keen interest in learning the trade of carpentry from experienced professionals, this just might be the opportunity you have been waiting for! 

We are looking for two enthusiastic and dedicated Carpentry Apprentices to join our busy and growing team.

Platinum Pro Construction is a residential construction company based in Spreyton Tasmania with current building projects from Westbury to Wynyard and many areas along the coast in between. Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist with the construction and installation of structural elements of a new home

  • Learn to read and study building plans

  • Provide help with measuring, cutting, and assembling materials as directed by your supervisor 

  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace

  • Support skilled carpenters with various tasks on a variety of projects and sites

Role Requirements:

  • No prior experience necessary—just a willingness to absorb & learn!

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools is a bonus but not required

  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship

  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions

  • Good physical fitness and ability to handle manual labor

  • A passion for carpentry and the end result

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Qualified Carpenter to join us.

  • Complete all core carpentry tasks maintaining the highest quality

  • Keep track of the construction schedule and ensure all materials are onsite ready to complete the tasks required. Escalate to your leading hand if materials need ordering

  • Maintain a clean and organised workspace

  • Support your Construction Manager- they have a high pressure and complex job and they need you to think ahead

  • Complete all Leading instructions including smaller purchase orders as required

  • Constructive Input at team meetings

  • You take on ownership of your role and do not ‘need’ to be managed

 

Role Requirements:

  • Use of the appropriate PPE and act safely onsite. adhering to all the site safety requirements is non-negotiable

  • Looking after company Construction tools and property

  • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship

  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions when required

  • Good physical fitness and ability to handle manual labor

  • A passion for carpentry and the end result 

  • Comply with all company policies

  • Take ownership of your own training and skills development.

  • Remuneration can be discussed pending applicant experience, ranging between $30-$50 ph

Spreyton and North West Coast, Tasmania

About the role

  • Every day will be different! Some days you’ll be running around in the truck doing deliveries and setting up sites, on the excavator helping out the site team or you could be helping put fence panels and lending a hand on a concrete pour
  • You’ll be responsible to organise your day to complete jobs in the most efficient and productive manner
  • You’ll have the opportunity to swing a spanner around and get familiar with the ins and outs of the construction site and residential building process, all while earning a bit of coin
  • You’ll be key in supporting the Platinum Pro Construction (PPC) team, and be supported in your professional and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transporting plant and equipment to and from job sites, and managing the plant and equipment register to keep the location of plant/equipment accurate
  • Initial site set-up (signage, temporary fencing, site sheds etc.)
  • Cleaning, maintaining, adjusting, calibrating and servicing the equipment used by PPC
  • Staying on top of rubbish removal, and tip runs
  • Operate excavators, rollers, skid steers and other construction PLANT and equipment
  • Check-ins and check-outs: yard organisation and stock control
  • Creating purchase orders via PPC’s project management software
  • Maintenance of your own tools. This includes your noggin: take ownership of your own training and skills development outside of work (be willing to read up on new materials and installation techniques).

Requirements

For this role, you need:

  • A driver’s licence and a car (or reliable form of transport)
  • A White Card (or are actively working towards getting one)
  • Medium Rigid License (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Experience operation construction PLANT and machinery

Not required, but it’s highly preferable that:

  • You have a background in the construction industry
  • Your name is Jack/Jacq/Jac, because … do we need to explain?
