Carpentry Apprenticeship
About the role
We’re looking to take on an apprentice in carpentry – someone who’s keen to get on the tools with one of the most sought-after builders on Tasmania’s North West Coast.
This is a full-time role that will support you while you work on getting your Certificate III in Carpentry. You’ll be learning the skills you need to become a stand-out carpenter, all while being a huge support to our team and having a direct impact in bringing someone’s dream home to life.
We’re keen to take
on apprentices in their first, second, third, or fourth year apprenticeships.
Also, we’re not discriminating between junior and mature-age apprentices!
Key Responsibilities
- Show up to work consistently and reliably
- Take directions from your Leading Hand Carpenter or supervisor
- Work towards completing each component of your training plan (as laid out by your TAFE course)
- Follow all safety protocol and wear appropriate PPE

Project Carpenter
About the role
- You will bring our home designs to life… because without you, nothing gets built!
- You’ll support your Construction Manager – they have a high-pressure, complex job, so they’ll rely on you to think ahead and get stuff done.
- As a Project Carpenter, you’ll train apprentices onsite and always set a strong example for them – they’re an important part of our team and a valuable resource when they’re mentored well.
- You’ll maintain a high standard of presentation – while we’re a friendly and approachable bunch, we’re also highly professional, and you’ll be expected to reflect this. The way you present yourself (your clothing), as well as your worksite cleanliness and interactions with clients and the general public, should echo the Platinum Pro Construction ethos.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign and delegate tasks to trades/subbies
- Liaise with Project Managers to ensure that projects run smoothly and on time
- Interpret construction plans and be able to follow and communicate these plans
- Install window frames and doors, framing, skirting and architraves Carrying out structural carpentry
- Carry out construction works to a high standard from foundation to completion and everything in between
- Be able to effectively communicate information during handover, as well as when directing and leading the team

Requirements

- To be a qualified carpenter
- A driver’s licence and a car (or reliable form of transport)
- A White Card (or are actively working towards getting one)
- Your own tools
- Thorough knowledge of the Building Code of Australia
You don’t need these, but it’s highly preferable that you:
- Have experience in residential construction or other trades
- Have experience with project management software

Trade Assistant, aka 'Jack of All Trades'
Both part-time and full-time candidates will be considered
Spreyton and North West Coast, Tasmania
About the role
- Every day will be different! Some days you'll be running around in the truck doing deliveries and setting up sites, on the excavator helping out the site team or you could be helping put fence panels and lending a hand on a concrete pour
- You’ll be responsible to organise your day to complete jobs in the most efficient and productive manner
- You’ll have the opportunity to swing a spanner around and get familiar with the ins and outs of the construction site and residential building process, all while earning a bit of coin
- You’ll be key in supporting the Platinum Pro Construction (PPC) team, and be supported in your professional and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Transporting plant and equipment to and from job sites, and managing the plant and equipment register to keep the location of plant/equipment accurate
- Initial site set-up (signage, temporary fencing, site sheds etc.)
- Cleaning, maintaining, adjusting, calibrating and servicing the equipment used by PPC
- Staying on top of rubbish removal, and tip runs
- Operate excavators, rollers, skid steers and other construction PLANT and equipment
- Check-ins and check-outs: yard organisation and stock control
- Creating purchase orders via PPC’s project management software
- Maintenance of your own tools. This includes your noggin: take ownership of your own training and skills development outside of work (be willing to read up on new materials and installation techniques).
